Morphologically from the root ه ج و‎ (h-j-w) that is of Proto-Semitic origin, also found in Aramaic ה־ג־י‎ / ܗ-ܓ-ܝ‎ (h-ɡ-y), and in Old Armenian հեգ (heg) and հեգենայ (hegenay).
